This week was another one where I didn’t have much experience with the theme. I’ve never tried making sportswear, nor do I participate in any sports. However, I have completed a few marathons and long-distance cycling trips from London to Bristol and London to the Isle of Wight, which were incredibly difficult, much like this challenge!

I opted for a Breton style fabric with stripes, paired with a navy blue collar and ribbed cuffs. Working with stretch fabrics was new to me, which added to the pressure.

The placket was tricky and the instructions were a bit unclear (although they probably made sense if I had more time to read them!). I had done plackets on cuffs before, but this was a whole different ball game. Despite the challenges, I think I did a decent job. If I were sewing for fun, I would consider making a rugby shirt for myself. I was satisfied with finishing in 4th place – it was a really tough challenge that pushed our skills to the limit!
