After the disaster of the previous week and the drama that I created, I had to wear my ‘You OK hun?’ t-shirt from Phillip Normal for this episode. I had even more stresses going on as I was in the final stages of selling my flat, and had to take a call with my solicitor to give them the go ahead. As we have to hand our phones into the production team before filming, I was desperate to get this call before we walked into the sewing room. The call came through just in time and as soon as I finished the call, I handed my phone in and walked into the room.
“Overall, it’s a pretty good rendition of the terno blouse” – Patrick
The pattern challenge was to make a Turno blouse. I have never heard of this type of blouse before, but felt that a brocade would be good to use and it would help to keep the butterfly sleeves upright. I was pretty pleased with the result, the only issue I had was with the covered buttons, but everybody did! So much so that when the allocated time was up, no one had even started on the buttons! Clearly the production team wanted to show some buttons, so we were given an extra ten minutes to try and make some covered buttons. I think I may have got two on the blouse, which was a relief, and not a bad start to world sewing week, however, I wish I thought about doing French seams!
