CHALLENGETransformation Challenge – Men’s Office Shirt
TIME ALLOWED90 Mins
POSITION4th out of 12

This is the challenge I feared most. I much prefer following a pattern and basically being told how to make something. I don’t mind creating something from scratch, but I need time to let my creative mind flow. To be given 90 minutes to make something from nothing scares the hell out of me! So I decided not to take this challenge too seriously, to have a bit of fun with it and just go with whatever came into my mind.

Refreshed from lunch and a lie down we were back in the sewing room for the transformation challenge. Gathered around a cutting table we were told that we had to transform men’s office shirts into _____. The timer started and I grabbed my two shirts. The first thing that came into my head was to make a skirt, that idea was probably fresh in my mind from the previous challenge, so I went with it!

I sewed two cuffs together to create the waistband and one side of each shirt to create the skirt. Thought I would be a little fancy, and have the buttons at the front at an angle. It wasn’t terribly exciting and was way too tight on the mannequin. So I was surprised that I came 4th. I think Esme liked the use of the different elements of the shirt.

So not a bad first transformation, glad I got that one out of the way. It had been a long day, we probably finished filming about 9pm, so it was back to the hotel bar from a well deserved drink and an early night.
